Bold, bright and full of character. This abode overlooks a vast Bardon treescape. The seclusion offered from the street is a direct contrast to the open, view-heavy rear of the home. Simple, seamless day to day to living was central to the design for our client. Incorporation of the vista was a high priority and the angled deck gives explicit connection to the treeline. The client brief sought capacity for regular gatherings of extended family without cavernous excessive rooms. We achieved this by assimilating the kitchen, living, dining and deck spaces into one open plan room that still retains intimate areas to enjoy daily. Steep blocks can be difficult to live on, but given enough forethought, a pragmatic use of external spaces and provision for low maintenance exteriors it can be entirely satisfying.
